Kids Leave Home For College: How To Cope

Home has been your haven for the past 18 years. Life is busy, but the daily routines keep you sane. The kids are always underfoot and very busy. You struggle sometimes with the pressures of raising kids, but you wouldn't have it any other way. Suddenly your world shatters. Your oldest child is about to leave for college - in another State. Apart from sleep-overs at friends, they have never been away from home before. Now they are leaving home and may be hundreds of miles away. You can't imagine what life will be like without them or how you will cope. Thankfully, today's technologies allow you to stay connected in ways you never imagined.

Regular mail is quickly being replaced by email. The speed and ease of sending messages, photos, and even video clips and music, makes it an ideal way to keep in touch with your kids in college. This is a great way to stay in touch, but because there is no interactivity, there is no real feeling that you are really connected.

Everyone today has a cell phone. This is another great means of staying in touch with your kids when they leave home for college. It's great to be able to call and hear their voice, having a good chat and get some inkling of what's going on in their new lives at college. Smart phones also allow you to send messages, photos, music and more. However, for many the costs to keep in touch with your college kids via cell phones can be very prohibitive.

Utilizing 'Skype' has become popular as a means of keeping in touch and actually being able to see your children when they leave home. You can interact face-to-face and see how your kids are doing at college. However it may be difficult to setup an appointment for a call, particularly with their hectic college schedules and perhaps even time zone differences. You also have the annoyance of hazy frozen images, making your call so frustrating that you sometimes wonder why you bothered.

Now imagine a connection that is crystal clear, on a secure network, with no need for coordinating appointment times, where you just pick up the phone and dial, seeing your kids smile as though they were in the same room, and the call is free.

Today's video phone technology allows you to do exactly that. Calls from one video phone to another are completely free around the world. The quality and clarity of a video phone call will allow you to see your kids every day. See and hear their adventures, meet their roomies, see what their new dorm room looks like, see the sparkle in their eyes, and share the excitement of college life. And most importantly, see that your kids are happy and safe.

The video phone is completely portable, so when your kids change rooms at college, the video phone moves with them. The only requirement is a good internet connection.

Additionally, the video phone is a true home phone replacement. You get to use the video phone for all your calls just as you have always done with a traditional handset, saving you even more money. The huge savings and fantastic features that video phone technology provides ensures it is a smart choice for everyone. You will wonder how you ever managed before you had your video phone.

You can access video phone technology today and never lose touch with your kids when they leave for college. Just ensure you choose a quality video phone that will make your calling experience the joy that it should be, combined with a reputable supplier with a fantastic global network and sensational customer service and support.

The Way to Justice Through Video Conferencing

Every democratic country gives certain rights to its citizens and makes some rules and laws. If anyone breaks the rule, he gets punished, but how many of us actually abide by the law? Not many, the reason is known, there are so many loopholes in our system that it is very easy for the guilty to manipulate things. Most of the times the guilty person escapes the hands of law and the innocent suffers due to lack of proper evidence. We need to adopt a better technology to reform the system.

Justice delayed is justice denied. There are so many people who must have died without getting justice as the long proceedings and lack of proof weakens the case. What we need is a fast and foolproof system where the victims are not threatened and witnesses are not changed. And yes my friends' technology can help us in getting justice. The witnesses can now be brought through videoconferencing in the court without any kind of threat and fear. This will fasten the process of justice and will teach a lesson to those who adopt unfair means to change the verdict.

There are some cases which set an example for an excellent verdict but not available for common man due to security reasons. The best judgments are a source of inspiration for many people who have faith in the power of law. So it is the right of the people to witness such judgments and be in touch with the latest developments. The video conference software is one such technology which cover the proceedings in the court, giving an opportunity to the people related with the case to link with the latest developments.

The fast track courts are functioning to fasten the process of justice in cases involving minor crimes. But here also, lack of proper witnesses and proof play a deterrent. Many cases get closed without a proper hearing due to dearth of evidences and unavailability of good lawyers. When everything has become so fast with the help of technology, then our courts can also rely on the amazing system of video conference to actually make the process fast.

There are thousands of lawyers who are not able to grow in their profession as they are not getting enough experience and exposure, they can now make many clients by showing their experience through video conferencing and keep a pace with the trials in the court. This will actually help in building a strong relation between law makers and the common man.

The development in the field of technology has given amazing tools which has made our life a total bliss. And if we can use it to make a better society, then nothing like it. We must use the best of everything to make this world a beautiful and peaceful place to live.

Companies Get Most From Pervasive Video Conferencing! Key Recommendations for Success

The Aberdeen Group, widely known for publishing research focussing on the video communications industry, has released a new study 'What Happens When Everyone in the Office Has Video Conferencing?'. The study compares companies where all employees have access to some form of video communications against companies who lacked some access to video across the whole organisation. Over a six month period, Aberdeen surveyed 131 companies to analyse their video conferencing usage, how they deployed video and their perspectives on the value of video communications.

Companies Get Most from Pervasive Video Strategy

The results showed that companies with a pervasive video conferencing strategy (ie. where all employees have access to video), spend an average of $890,000 during the initial investment period to support an average of 13,000 employees; through a combination of PC-based video solutions and room-based video conferencing. On the other hand, companies that provided solutions to only part of their workforce spent an average of $910,000 to support 5,600 employees.

Therefore, the companies who provided video conferencing to ALL of their workforce spent 50% less per employee ($69 v $163) than the companies who only deployed visual communications for only some of their workforce.

Companies that adopted more video throughout their organisation saw the greatest performance improvements in the key departments of sales, marketing and customer service - all crucial to boosting revenue. As employees in these departments were given access to video, it became an increasingly important tool for engaging with new and current customers, specifically within the B2B environment. Since B2B sales are typically about demonstrating products and services, visual communications became an essential tool for those companies to provide a more personal approach to client sales, whilst reducing the amount of travel and associated cost of traditional meetings.

Recommendations for Companies Before Deploying Video Conferencing

Although these results focus on the companies who are already using video, Aberdeen provides the following recommendations to ensure that companies plan for successful adoption from the very beginning of their video strategy:

• Focus on a foundation that includes technical, operational, and ease of use concerns.

• Develop a roadmap for supporting remote workers with visual solutions.

• Implement an employee feedback scheme to help aid adoption and further deployment.

• Aim to achieve interoperability between room-based solutions and pc-based conferencing.

• Allign business improvement processes with visual technology to see where video could be used to address inefficiencies in certain departments.

• Integrate video conferencing into your unified communications and social platforms.

• Go Mobile by enabling video conferencing on smartphones and tablets. In this post-PC era, where bring your own device to work (BYOD) is a growing trend, those companies who plan for the future will see the greatest results.

The results from the survey undoubtedly show that companies who deploy visual solutions throughout the whole organisation gain the most from their investment. This usually doesn't happen instantly and can take a substantial amount of time to achieve but by supporting a deployment using the recommendations above, companies can ensure they don't pass up on any of the key benefits that can be gained from an investment in communications.
